Acton, Mass. - The Delvena Theatre Company will present 'The Titanic Sinks as Acton Sleeps' at the Acton Memorial Library on Wednesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. Actors Lynne Moulton and Carl Rossi will assume multiple roles as Titanic survivors in their own words, drawn from first-hand interviews and articles of the day.

The Titanic, theあlargest passenger steamship of her day, was built to be 'unsinkable.' On theあnight of April 14, 1912, during her maiden voyage from England to NewあYork, the ship struck anあiceberg in theあNorth Atlantic Ocean. She sank two hours and forty minutes later, resulting in theあdeaths of over 1,500 passengers and crew one of theあdeadliest peacetime disasters in history. Only one-third onboard survivedあ roughly, 700 people, including Acton's own Caroline Lamson Brown, who later became a trustee of the Acton Memorial Library.

The play's writer and director, Carl A. Rossi, is a Boston-based playwright and theatre critic. His plays have been performed both in New England and in regional theatres.あHe is a member of The Dramatists Guild of America.

Lynne Moulton received her acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art under the direction of Sir Robert Palmer and at Trinity Rep Conservatory. She has performed several roles for Delvena Theatre and also for numerous other theatre companies in the New England area.

The Delvena Theatre Company was founded in 1992 and has performed at various venues, most often at the Boston Center for the Arts.あThe company has been nominated for five Independent Reviewers of New England awards.あ

'The Titanic Sinks as Acton Sleeps'is supported in part by a grant from the Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. It is recommended for ages 10 and up.

The program is free and the public is invited. The library is located at 486 Main St. Its entrance and parking lot are reached from Woodbury Lane, which is opposite the Isaac Davis Monument on Main St., Route 27. For information, call 978 264-9641.
