Announcement: DEATH OF LORD MERSEY

The Times

We announce with much regret that VISCOUNT MERSEY died suddenly yesterday at his country house at Littlehampton, at the age of 89. Though latterly he had become physically feeble, his mental activity showed no sign of impairment. He had a long career on the Bench, retiring as President of the Probate, Divorce, and Admiralty Division, and he will be remembered as a most able exponent of mercantile and maritime law. A memoir appears on page 14.
