With further research I have established that this rare accommodation was awarded to the first eight officers of the RMS Carpathia by the Liverpool Shipwreck & Humane Society for their humane services to the survivors of the “Titanic”
A bronze medal was issued to each officer in addition to the award and as a special token of appreciation a presentation gold medal was also awarded from the famous oil heiress Molly Brown, (survivor) who was one of the many rescued by the RMS Carpathia.
