Although the Cap Arcona did not have divided funnel uptakes as some earlier German liners did, her interiors mananged to convey the same feeling of procession that the Normandie's famed promenade deck suite did. Dividing walls beteeen the public rooms wre reduced to a bare minimum, with only enough retained to give definition to each space. The result was both aesthetically pleasing and practical; in pre-airconditioned times this configuration allowed for maximum air flow while in the Equatorial zone. The furniture, although of high quality, was broadly spaced, which gives the rooms a rather sparce feel in some publicity photos but which would have made circulation easy and comfortable when the rooms were occupied.
