1930s snapshot of the Mohawk's sister ship Cherokee. She proved to be the least lucky of the Clyde-Mallory sisters. She collided with a sailing vessel, the Bright in 1927, and rammed and sank the British vessel Welcombe off Jacksonville Florida in 1936. Her career ended when she was torpedoed during a voyage from Iceland on June 15, 1942, sinking off the coast of Cape Cod with the loss of 85 of the 169 on board.
