Contemporary Obituary

WAS born in Southampton forty-three years ago. He served his apprenticeship in the works of the London and South-Western Railway Co., and after other appointments sailed in vessels owned by the company as second engineer. Four years were spent with the Isle of Wight Steam Packet Company and a short time on the steam yacht White Ladye. For the past five years he had been with Messrs. Harland & Wolff, Southampton, but deciding to go to sea again he was appointed to the Titanic. Mr. Kemp, who held a first class certificate, had his residence in Southampton, and leaves a widow and one daughter.
