Not really "aftermath", but I am not sure where to put this. I see from the Virginian's PV that she didn't pick up the Titanic's CQD until 11.10 NY Time, or 1.00am approx Titanic time. The PV notes that, at 11.00am, "MCC's (Cape Cod) signs barely audible unable to read a single word. (unreadable) on hand". Presumably she was being jammed by the wireless signals cascading around the ocean. The previous entry (at 10.00pm) says "(unreadable) for Cape Cod". I wonder what the Virginian's operator was doing when the Titanic's messages started to be sent out? Cheers Paul -- http://www.paullee.com |
