It's great to hear from someone who has actually been there I would love to have a copy of your and Richard's paper (If You can't get my mailing address from the site I think Jason has it). I thought that the plans from "Titanic & Tragedy" were fairly accurate since they showed the stateroom changes on: "A", "B",and "C"? decks. I also thought that the two sections of hull stretched all the way across the beam of the ship. I don't and won't disrespect anybody's work but I still wonder if Titanic could have achieved the extreme angle prior to sinking. I ask because several passengers in the boats reported this(I would question the accuracy of survivors in the water simply because they too close and were occupied in staying alive. (most of them ended on top of collapsible "B"))and some of the many photos taken through the periscopes of submarines of ships sinking during WWII. Note that all of these ships had taken torpedo damage at or near where their hulls broke up. |

>>I thought that the plans from "Titanic & Tragedy" were fairly accurate << They were, up to that time, the most accurate available. Bruce Beveridge however produced a set that was not only more accurate, but one whole hell of a lot easier to read. Cordially, Michael H. Standart Equal Opportunity Curmudgeon

>>How do these compare to the Hahn plans available form the THS website?<< The Hahn plans deal with exterior features only. I bought a set years ago,) whilst the Beveridge plans are general deck plans. Cordially, Michael H. Standart Equal Opportunity Curmudgeon

. Huh? Do you mean your e-mail address, Dale? I don't have it. In any event, if you want a copy of Roy's paper, just click on his name and send him a PM through his profile. He can e-mail you a copy of it, in Microsoft Word.

Roy, I have to admit that does make more sense to simplify the construction by starting the ramp earlier and leveling off before the water tight bulkhead. I will go ahead and make those changes now while I am still thinking about it. |

Bruce Beveridge is a member here onEncyclopedia Titanica. You can send a PM to his profile. However, his profile says that he hasn't been in to post since April 14 (why does that date sound familiar?). He may be able to help you there. Otherwise, a copy of his plans can be found in either Titanic: The Ship Magnificent or here I wouldn't worry about the errors in grammar, spelling and typing. Your's is hardly noticeable. There are others however who try to push the limit. Sometimes, it's a bit annoying. But you need not worry. "In an hour or so, all of this will be at the bottom of the Atlantic." Benjamin D. Lemmon

Thanks for the info on plans. $40.00 plus s&h is a bit to much for now for someone on Social Security. Perhaps if the gov. really comes through w the tax rebate. Until then I will have to do with the plans from the Discovery Channel. Later. |
