Today I received the latest Commutator, which contains an obituary reporting that Mr. Wade died on 11 October last year, a fact that I don't recall having been noted here before. MAB http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OceanicSteamNavigationCo/ http://www.greatships.net/

Sad news! His book remains a valuable contribution and a good memorial. Dave Gittins Titanic: Monument and Warning. http://users.senet.com.au/~gittins/Book.html

I'm sorry to hear this. As Dave said, his book did a lot for the Titanic community. I recall seeing him on Titanic: Death of a Dream and found his interview to be very interesting. My condolences to his family. Thanks for posting that, Mark. "To be happy is to be contented in your own mind"...Harold Godfrey Lowe 43° 44' 01" N, 79° 24' 16"W

That's unfortunate. I have a copy of his book and it cuts through a lot of the murk that's out there. I don't know of any thread here noting his passing until now. Cordially, Michael H. Standart Equal Opportunity Curmudgeon
