I am truly saddened by this news. My prayers go out to her and her family.

I was so sad to hear that Millvina has finally left us. I have had the honor of knowing her as a friend since 1987 when I met her in Boston, Massachusetts at at Titanic Historical Society gathering. We struck up a friendship which allowed us to be penpals for many years. She even met my eldest daughter (now 13) when she was 2. I have a photo of Millvina holding her. From that point on every Christmas Millvina would sign her card "Auntie Millvina" and send a present to Brenda. I remember having tea with her and Bruno multiple times, and just talking about life - not just the Titanic. Millvina was a lady and a close friend who I shall never forget. May her memory go on as the last of the Titanic's passengers are finally together - and my friend is now able to be with her father since she was 9 weeks old. I will miss you Millvina - with love David Lambert, and family.

I just hear of Millvina's passing on the news. It feels like we have lost the last link to the Titanic. I hope she is at peace and with her family now.

Millvina was an inspiration to all that knew her. I was blessed to have written to her for 15 years. We shouldn't be sad now as Millvina had a long and happy life. Most of all, she was loved by so many people. I will never forget the first letter I received from her, she was asking about ME and asking me questions about my life. I think Phil Gowan said it best when he said "she would be an interesting person to know even if she hadn't been on the Titanic".

I'm so sorry to hear of this dear little ladies passing. However, I'm glad to hear that her life that began with such tumultuous disaster ended so peacefully as I'm sure she would have wanted. God bless you Milvina as you at last are reunited with your beloved father.

At least we who didn't get the opportunity to meet and get to know her personally will always have our documentaries and interviews with this fantastic lady to look back on. And we can take peace in knowing that Millvina is no longer sick and is in a much better place. God bless you, Millvina and thank you for everything. You will never be forgotten.

Your sentence was so touching, Sarah, that it almost made me cry. So true, and so poignant. Everyone - from the youngest child who drowned amongst those cruel waters, to the tiny infant who lived a long and fulfilling life that has now just ended - is now at home with God.

>>A long life, well lived.<<

I think that just about sums it up in a nutshell.

I had just got home from work when my Dad broke the news to me. He caught it on the headlines on his homepage earlier today.

I wish I had known her. Everything I'd ever seen or heard about Millvina pointed to a lady who had grace, charm, greater patience then perhaps may have been warrented under some circumstances and above all, class. She will be missed.

To those who knew her and counted her a friend as well as to her family, you all have my sincere condolances.
Cordially,
Michael H. Standart

I heard the sad news when I woke up a few hours ago. The story finally goes to an end.

Rest in peace, Millvina Dean and other 2200 people on board.

Thank you, Michael.

I wish you had the chance to meet Millvina, just as I had wished to meet several other Titanic survivors. I finally admitted that Millvina was going to be the only survivor I would get to know.

I admit that I enjoyed sending postcards to Millvina, from many of the places I traveled to.

Millvina enjoyed hearing our stories, and what we were doing, and where we traveled to.

I always figured that a card or a letter was the best thing to send to her, instead of many a souvenir, though I admit I did remember how much she enjoyed hearing about the story of the James Brothers, during her visit, in 1997, to Kansas City. From that I sent her a copy of a "Wanted: Dead or Alive" poster about Frank and Jessie James, during a 1999 visit to the Smithsonian Postal Museum, in Washington DC.

My two other stories:
1. Whenever I sent Millvina a birthday card, I made sure to use two 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' stamps (plus any additional postage), issued by the US Postal Service. That way she could see, immediately, the purpose of my cards;
and
2. I am grateful I got the chance to visit Millvina during my last two visits to Southampton, in September 2007 and August 2008. Both times I left noting that I would have to accept that it was the last time I would ever see Millvina.
Now I am thankful for those wonderful, albeit brief, visits with her and her friends.

"Thank you, Millvina"!!

"CHEERS"!!!

It is the end of an era. This is a day of history for all of us. My condolences go out to Millvina's family and friends. May The Good Lord Bless Millvina Dean, may The Lord Shine His Continence upon her, have mercy on her, and give her everlasting peace.

Miss Mellvina,

While I have never known you, the world has known about your legendary connection to the fateful journey of Titanic. Your journey has been inspirational and will continue in your memory. May you rest in peace.

I'm saddened by the story of her death. But now she can be with her father, who was lost in the sinking. What a wonderful lady.
'Olympic', 'Titanic', and 'Britannic'... you said 'Gigantic' earlier... :/

Was honored to help with the display that held her suitcase in Branson, Missouri at The Titanic Museum. I tell her story to passengers every day as a crew member of Titanic Branson. It is not just a job to us, it is our honor to continue their legacy, which is their memory....As long as their remembered, their never truly gone. RIP Milvina Dean.
