It feels as though Titanic has finally finished it's voyage. A very important link to the humanity of the Titanic story is now gone. God Bless you, Millvina. All my love.

I was so sad to hear about Millvina's passing. She was truly an extraordinary woman, not just because of her history. She was kind, giving, warm, compassionate and a truly loving person. She will be sorely missed.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Millvina,
she was a special lady who will be sadly missed by her friends and admirers from around the world.
I visited her a few weeks ago and she was in good form despite a chest complaint.

It was a privilege and a pleasure to have known her.

Rest in peace Millvina. God Bless, Howard.

I just heard the news and I am saddened at it. I am happy of the one chance I had to meet her, at the BTS convention this year, and I am glad that she lived a full a life as she did. My condolences go to her friends and family. May she rest in peace.

A Day to Remember.

31 May 1911. Titanic launched.
31 May 2009. Millvina Dean departs.

I'm glad to know she went peacefully, as she deserved.

I heard the sad news this morning when I woke up. My condonlences go to Bruno and Millvina's family and friends.

I had the great fortune to meet Millvina a few times at the BTS conventions in Southampton and I was amazed at how someone of her age could be so patient and happy to meet all her fans. We should all be so lucky to be so full of life and most importantly, FUN, at the ripe old age of 97.

I met her last in April and it was obvious that she was terrifyingly frail, but the moment she opened her mouth, my God she was as razor sharp as she ever had been and she still had that fantastic glint in her eye.

The coincidence of 31 May is remarkable but am I right in thinking her brother Bertram died on 15 April a few years ago?

Rest in peace Millvina, we will miss you.

Love Rich.

This news was posted all over the internet here in the States yesterday. It was nice to see that so many people out there cared.

RIP Millvina, I enjoyed watching your interviews so much over the years. Now you join the others.

I met Milvina on numerous occasions, and she was always cheerful and full of stories - a lovely down-to-earth person. So sorry I wasn't able to visit her in time. At least she was active and happy with lots of friends and admirers.

Requiescat in pace.

Millvina was an amazing lady I had the pleasure of her company on a few occasions once in Cobh in 1998 and then again in Quebec in 2000 she was a great story teller and told us all on the trip about her young days during the war she had a job that had to do with the Maps for the fighter planes she laughed telling us how bad her sense of direction back then was and she would hope the planes got where they were going!! was she was a dote, it was a real pleasure to have had the privilege of her company.
May she rest in peace

The Daily Mail has a brief story on Millvina's passing at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1189904/Last-Titanic-survivor-Millvina-Dean-dies-aged-97.html

This includes a nice photo of her posing with a salvaged porthole on display at the National Museum in Grenwich

It is very bad news, that Mrs. Dean has died. She was very kind woman. Since 31th May 2009 has been all passengers and crew members of RMS Titanic again together.

Titanic's gate for her souls into heaven is now closed.

From all Titanic passengers and crew have left only memories, signatures and personal things.

SLEEP WELL MRS DEAN! :-(

"31 May 1911. Titanic launched.
31 May 2009. Millvina Dean departs."

As well as my wedding anniversary (1980) and Clint Eastwood's birthday (1925). But seriously, this day will be all the more memorable for me. How fitting, in a sense, it's the beginning and the end of Titanic's life.

My heart goes out to all of her friends and family. She sounded like a wonderful woman. I always wished I could have met her. Now she will always be resting at peace in heaven where she has reunited with all the other people on board that fell way too soon. We'll miss you Milvina. It truely feels like the end of an era now! I had the pleasure of speaking briefly with Miss Dean at the THS convention in Boston in 1988. She was a gracious and charming lady.

Met her at BTS 2003, went up to her with camera in hand, inadvertently. She enthusiastically asked if I wanted a photo but I rather bashfully said no. Spent a few minutes talking to her and Bruno, she was a lovely elderly lady and it was so obvious she was enjoying her life.

Spent today somewhat regretting not getting the photo, I must confess.
