Tayleur did not belong to the same White Star Line as the one owned by the Ismay Family, but was on charter to an earlier line of the same name. It was that line's trade name, trade flag and goodwill that Thomas Ismay purchased in 1868 and, for that reason, it is discussed in every scholarly history of the White Star Line which owned Titanic.
