A sad end to the year as yet another ferry goes down with hundreds of casualties. A "crowded" ferry headed from Borneo to Java broke up and sank in a violent storm Friday night. Approximately 600 passengers are still missing. The article below reports that it got ugly as passengers fought over lifejackets when the ship began to roll over. You can read the story here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061230/ap_on_re_as/indonesia_ferry_sinks_9 And, here's a link to another story about this most recent ferry disaster: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-12-30-ship_x.htm Denise |
