MANILA, Philippines - A typhoon battered the Philippine capital and surrounding provinces still reeling from recent flooding, sending residents of one town clambering onto rooftops Saturday to escape rising waters. At least seven people died and at least five were missing.

Typhoon Mirinae was the fourth storm to lash the northern Philippines since late September and brought new hardship to areas still struggling in the wake of the previous disasters.

Tropical Storm Ida Heads Toward Land

A tropical storm warning is in effect from Grand Isle Louisiana to the Aucilla River in Florida, including New Orleans. A storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere in the area in the next 24 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center.

All the beach replenishment that was done along the Delaware coast, is GONE! The jettys are all exposed again in Rehoboth and Bethany Beach.

We had about 4 inches of rain in northwestern South Carolina right about where I live. We need it pretty badly after several years of drought, but not all at once. Hopefully, there will be no more such storms to report this year but as active as the Pacific has been this season, don't bet on it.
