Top ten in no particular order: Savannah Great Britain Oceanic I Oceanic III Olympic class Lusitania class Queen Mary Bismark/Majestic Ceramic United States Again, no particular order, but all except the Olympic class are on this list because of groundbreaking design or other aspects (such as the Bismark and the Ceramic) that refined an earlier design to perfection. The Olympic class are really a further refinement of the Big Four and of the Oceanic II and are for obvious reasons sentimental favorites of mine. This last statement is, of course, merely my opinion, but that is the beauty of this thread! |

Ah, dreaming on a summer afternoon... 1. Empress of Britain, especially when Noel Coward was on board. Dahlings, I'm told they had a mahvellous party. 2. Normandie. Just for over-the-top sophistication 3. Rex 4. Ile de France 5. France 1 for rococo splendour 6. Leonardo da Vinci 7. Empress of Japan. Either 1 or 2 - both great ships 8. Nieuw Amsterdam. My Dad came home on her in '45 9. Olympic. Very comfortable, a good sea boat, and arrived in one piece. 10. LZ129 Hindenburg. OK, it's a cheat, but it's my dream after all. |
