From Ananova, just in: FERRY SINKS IN CASPIAN SEA A ferry with at least 43 people on board has sunk in the Caspian Sea. The Mercury II was on it's way from Kazakhstan to the Azerbaijani capital Baku. The fate of those on board isn't yet known. A spokesman for CASPAR, the shipping company that owns the ferry, says he doesn't know how far offshore the accident occured, but says it happened closer to Kazakhstan. The Interfax news agency, quoting a source in Azerbaijan's state oil company, says there are 44 crew members and up to 7 passengers on board. Rescue vessels are at the scene, and at least one body has been recovered so far, Interfax says. The agency says the ferry was carrying 2,000 tons of oil in it's cargo hold. The company spokesman, however, says he can't confirm if the ferry was carrying oil. |

Another ferry sinks? Davy Jones must be declaring open season on them. Sure would be interesting to see the results of the investigation.
