From The Daily Mail:

Cruise holidays: If you've seen the Med, it could be time to put it all on Black

quote:

The Med is perfect for cruising, giving you the chance to enjoy several countries on one relatively short voyage. But what if you've been there, done that – and now fancy venturing further afield?

It could well be time for you to try the Black Sea. On one trip you could take in Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia and Georgia.
Here's the pick of Black Sea cruises for next year. Prices are per person, based on two sharing.

CruiseCompare Launches Flash Sales in the UK

Sounding a bit like Travelzoo or CruiseCompete, UK-based CruiseCompare, claiming to be the first cruise comparison engine in that market, has launched a new “Cruise Flash Sale” section similar to that of Groupon, the company said, where discounts will only be available for a limited period of seven days.

From The Belfast Telegraph:

Burgundy afloat: World of serenity cruising France's canals

quote:

It’s no surprise that cruising is an increasingly popular vacation option. It’s a great way of getting around from destination to destination without having to keep packing and unpacking. In effect, your hotel simply moves with you.

Southampton Slam: Royal Caribbean Pulls Indy From Year-Round Deployment

quote:

(Updated 11:47 EDT) -- In a surprising announcement, Royal Caribbean says that its Independence of the Seas, the only contemporary cruise ship to operate year-round from Southampton, will flee winter. Beginning next year (the 2012-2013 winter season), the ship will be redeployed to the Caribbean. We spoke with Royal Caribbean today to find out the reason behind the change.

Today's Feature Story from Cruise Critic:

Is Your Cruise Ship's Water Contaminated?

quote:

(4 p.m. EST) -- Could your cruise ship's drinking water be contaminated? That's the question the Sunday Times of London raised in a recent article about a 2004 issue with a possibly carcinogenic coating on the inside of cruise ship water tanks.

Here's the backstory: According to the newspaper report, paint inspector Brian Bradford found black residue inside the potable water tanks of two Norwegian Cruise Line ships (Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Star) in 2004. He believed the residue could be from the coating leaching acrylonitrile into the water.

Feature story from The Daily Mail:

Liner bosses ditching 100 years of Royal tradition... so they can cash-in on demand for weddings at sea

quote:

Cunard, Britain’s most famous operator of luxury liners, is to lower the flag on more than 170 years of British maritime tradition – so that it can cash in on the booming demand for weddings at sea.

The company has decided that its flagship liner Queen Mary 2 and its sister ships Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria should no longer be registered in Southampton and should instead be listed on Bermuda’s register of shipping.

From The Toronto Sun:

What you sign away when buying a cruise ticket

quote:

It's all fun and margaritas when you first book a cruise. But that "ticket" is actually a contract that can run more than a dozen pages, and gives away more rights to the cruise ship company than you may realize.

HA! I like the part under "the right to count on a vacation" that says "a partial refund if the company changes its mind and leaves you at some port along the way." Haha sorry, but we're ditching you here in Cozumel. Here's your partial refund, enjoy!
I'm sorry I did not build you a stronger ship, young Rose.
