I worked in a boat salvage yard 5 years ago and was assigned the task of removing oak panels from the officers quarters. As I removed one large panel there sitting on one of the supports was a gold waltham pocket watch. The watch chain was engraved "For 25 years service W.S.L. Can anyone tell me if the White Star Line issued Waltham watches to officers or crew upon retirement? The watch has been dated to 1906. Thanks Steve Dever |

Sounds really interesting, which ship were you salvaging? you do not say, and did you get any further finding who the owner was? I see your post was some time ago Lorna |
