Latest news is 1 confirmed fatality with 153 missing. There were 877 passengers and crew on board, many of whom were forced to jump into the sea to escape the flames. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/3491206.stm Incidentally, there is a link on the right of the page to other shipping disasters.

The Filipino terrorist group Abu Sayyaf (linked to al-Qaeda) have claimed responsibility for the engine room explosion which caused the fire, although rescue/salvage workers have reported seeing no damage consistent with a bomb explosion. Of the now-known 899 people aboard, around 180 are still missing.
