Today, 11th October 1811, the world's first commercial ferry service began operations in New York when the steam-powered Juliana left Vesey Street, Manhattan and docked at Hoboken, New Jersey. Built by Col. John Stevens III, he named the ferry after his daughter. http://www.newsday.com/other/special/ny-ihny1106story.htmlstory Is there a picture anywhere of this ferry? |
