    Andrew,

    WOW.....

There were additional survivors still living whom you didn't mention (from memory, a quick count shows about nine others):

George T. Rowe, Emilio Portaluppi, Edward Ryan, Tom McCormack, Bertha Ilett, Anna Salkjelsvik, Carl Johnson, Louis Garrett and Hannah Riordan. A few other men and women were still alive also.

The first THS convention was held in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1973.

    The following survivors attended:

    Mr. Washington Dodge, Jr.
    Mr. Frank Goldsmith
    Mrs. Edwina Troutt MacKenzie
    Mrs. Madeleine Mellenger Mann
    Mrs. Margaret Devaney O'Neill
    Mrs. Bertha Watt Marshall

1977 THS Convention in Greenwich, Connecticut:

    Mr. Frank Goldsmith
    Mrs. Nelle Snyder

1982 THS Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:

    Mr. Frank Aks
    Mrs. Ruth Becker Blanchard
    Miss Eva Hart
    Mrs. Edwina Troutt MacKenzie
    Mr. George Thomas

1987 THS Convention in Wilmington, Delaware:

    Mr. Frank Aks
    Mrs. Ruth Becker Blanchard
    Mr. Bertram Dean
    Mrs. Edith Brown Haisman
    Miss Eva Hart
    Mrs. Marjorie Newell Robb
    Mr. Michel Navratil
    Mrs. Louise Kink Pope
    Mrs. Eleanor Johnson Shuman

1988 THS Convention in Boston, Massachusetts:

    Mr. Frank Aks
    Mrs. Ruth Becker Blanchard
    Mr. Bertram Dean
    Miss Millvina Dean
    Miss Eva Hart
    Mrs. Marjorie Newell Robb
    Mr. Michel Navratil
    Mrs. Louise Kink Pope
    Miss Beatrice Sandstrom
    Mrs. Eleanor Johnson Shuman

1992 THS Convention in Boston, Massachusetts:

    Miss Millvina Dean
    Miss Eva Hart
    Mrs. Louise Kink Pope
    Mrs. Eleanor Johnson Shuman

After 1992, only Millvina Dean attended the conventions given there were so few survivors living and well enough to travel to them.

Of course, many of the survivors you mentioned were alive at the time of the sinking but did not want to be reminded of the sinking or participate in a gathering of Titanic researchers. Some were also quite elderly, were in poor health, had failing memories, and in some cases, had no transportation to and from the events.

    Hope this helps.

Mike, I received a photograph (8x10) of the survivors at the '87 Delaware convention from a man who lives not far from me. He said he got it from someone who claims to have been the photographer. However, I understand a similar photograph was used on the cover of the THS Commutator. How can I find out if my photograph is genuine, or if THS is the owner of the copyright?

    Regards,
    Kyrila

Wow Thank you for the info, Its nice that even though some of them lost relatives, they were still ok with attending the conventions.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Kyrila,

I do not know who took that photograph at the 1987 THS convention. I remember that many of us who attended the survivor banquet that night took advantage of the opportunity and snapped away.

I have an 1987 original print in my possession that was sent to Marjorie Newell Robb by Ed and Karen Kamuda of the Titanic Historical Society. The back of the photo read "For Marjorie Robb - from Ed and Karen Kamuda." It is possible that Karen may have taken the picture and therefore the original negative belongs to her. When Marjorie passed away, I inherited the print.

Actually, Kyrila, I have over two or three dozen pictures of the survivors together both in 1987, and in 1988. They are better quality then the print you received, and I own the copyright

Let me know if you might be interested to use one of them instead in case you are wondering about copyright legalities......

    Best,

    Mike

    Thanks, Mike,
Even if worse comes to worse, I would love to have copies of the photos for use in my school exhibitions. I have an exhibition coming up on the 18th (short notice, I know!) and I have a Walgreen's nearby with a photograph reproduction machine where I can make copies and send your originals back.

    Hi Andrew,

I see that you have missed Elsie Edith Bowerman and Alfred Evans from your list too.

    Yours, Filipe
