PINEHURST, N. C., April 10---H. C. Fownes, the Oakmont veteran, and Tom Morrison, also of the Oakmont Club, met in the final of the mid-April tournament at Pinehurst today, Fownes winning the match and the President’s Trophy by 5 up and 3 to play. Morrison took the lead at the third hole, but Fownes came right back on the fourth and led the way from that time until the end.
The consolation trophy went to E. L. Scofield of the Woodway Club, who defeated H. V. Seggerman of Englewood, 4 and 3. Burton Preston of Westwood won the Governors’ Trophy in the second sixteen, winning from Dickinson Bishop of Dowagiac by 3 and 2.
