Comments: I own the James Cameron EPIC Titanic and wondered if the people that "Rose" was introducing "Jack" to were real people. I knew Molly Brown was a real person, but what I did not know was that Astor, Thomas Andrews, Jr., ans Ismay and a few others were all real people until I found the passanger and crew list of the Titanic! It was most helpful and very impressive. Thank you.

Comments: I have always been intrigued by the famous disaster of The Titanic, even as a child. After the hoopla of the Hollywood movie, it's nice to see a responsible and ever-informing website. I cannot say that the movie did the great ship nor the many lives lost much justice. What can, really? Thank you for an interesting journey. My heart aches for the losses of so many, particularly the young, lives.

Comments: The Titianic was the "U.S.S Enterprise" craft of the 1900's. The design was beautiful. The design was mid-rated. The captain ran the ship too-fast and the design of the water tight compartments were underestimated. Because of their "thoughts" of "beauty" many needed lifeboats were left out causing the deaths of hundreds. Plus, a ship near - by was thinking, "Oh, she won't sink." Your sight adds to the mystery's beauty. The plans were exciting. The passenger lists were terriffic. I will expect to have my friends visit, also.

Comments: I already signed the guest book but I have a question and dont want to bother you over e-mail, so if you read this, please let me know the answer. Thanks. I've heard that if the Titanic would have hit the iceberg head on, it wouldn't have sank, it would have just crumpled up the front end. My question is, is this true? Would the Titanic have made it to the USA if it hadn't turned and put a big gash down the side of the ship?

Comments: My first reason for visiting is that I work at a High School and am helping one of my students with a research project on the Titanic. The other reason is that lmy family have always been told that our Grandfather was supposed to have sailed on the Titanic. He was escaping from Lithuania in prerevolution times and was apparently signed on as a crew member with other people from Lithuania. The story goes that there was a Russian Police boat of some sort in the vicinity of the Titanic so they jumped ship and got on a boat to Australia instead. There were boarding papers for him in my Aunty's possession but when she passed away they were misplaced. Could this be a small piece of family history with some grounds or have we ben mislead all these years? j After reading your crew and passenger lists it would appear tjo be the latter. Any info would be appreciated. His name was Stanislav ALEKNA.

Comments: Dear Sir or M'am: I am certain you know of the Titanic Fever generated by the popular film. At the movies, on TV, on Broadway, and in print here in America there is a deluge of Titanic information. But none of it (that I've seen or read) says much about the builders of the vessel. Is there any information about the people who actually put her together? Not just the company and the executives, but the hands-on laborers? It seems to me that they have been completely overlooked. How did they feel? How did the great tragedy affect them? How do their decendants feel about the consuming interest which again grips the public? Thank you - and it is a lovely website. You have every reason to be very pleased and proud of it. Sincerely, Linda Hart

Comments: Hello! I have been searching for information on a relative that was a crewman on the Titanic. The last name is Butt and the first name is believed to be William (middle initial R). I found 2 listings here...a Mr R Butt and a Mr W Butt with references in the profiles of each referring to the other. Both are listed as crewmen...one as a fireman and the other as a first class Saloon steward. Both are also found on the list of deceased pulled from the water as #10 and #77. If anyone has any information on these two men I would love to hear from you! Thanks!

Comments: I have always had an interest in american history but the Titanic has especially fascinated me. I've read most of the books and seen the old movies but since James Camerons movie came out i just can't seem to get enough. I realize his movie was not completely accurate but from the books i've read he comes pretty close. To me there are still so many unanswered questions, questions I suppose we will never find the answers to but I know for me this will be an unending fascination and a lifelong quest for information.

Comments: Well I had already made a comment earlier today. And I don't know how much I'll be able to say without breaking out into tears. All I can say is "WHY" why did this horrible horrible tragedy have to happen? It pisses me off that some people joke around about this and show disrespect towards the tragedy. All i can say is Rest In Peace to all of the people that didn't make it 2:30 am April 14,1912. God Bless those 1,228 souls that went into the ocean that cold night. Paula

Comments: WE FOUND WHAT WE THINK MIGHT BE A VERY IMPORTANT TITANIC MEMORABILIA ITEM IN AN OLD FRAME UNDER GLASS AND SEALED WITH PAPER ON THE BACK. IT WAS WEDGED INSIDE A SIDEBOARD (DATED 1909 ON THE HANDLES) THAT WE PURCHASED IN WALES LAST FEBRUARY AND SHIPPED TO THE STATES IN A CONTAINER OF ANTIQUE FURNITURE. WE DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE ITEM WAS THERE UNTIL WE BEGAN REFINISHING THE SIDEBOARD IN OUR WAREHOUSE IN SEPTEMBER. WE TOOK IT TO ENGLAND WITH US ON A BUYING TRIP IN SEPTEMBER AND SHOWED IT TO THE MANUSCRIPT DEPARTMENT OF THE MARITIME MUSEUM IN GREENWICH. THEY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT DONATED AND IT WOULD BECOME A PART OF THEIR UPCOMING PASSENGER SHIP EXHIBIT. WE WOULD PREFER TO SELL THE ITEM BUT DON'T KNOW THE BEST WAY TO MARKET IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY TITANIC AUTIONS ON THE HORIZON. THANK YOU. GLORIA

Comments: Hello, I am only 14 years old and l would like to say that l love the Titanic. It touched me just as much as it touched everyone else...i'm sure. Some people don't take me serious, they just say it's an excuse for me to be intelligent. l don't think that you have to be that intelligent to be sensitive. l mean, that just doesn't make sense to me. Well, l am just glad that l was able to find out some facts on the web about the Titanic. l do hope to find out more about the worse tragedy in history. -Brandy-

Comments: I would just like to say that ever since i heard the tragedy of Titanic it has touched my heart. I always ask myself why this had to happen. I am only 16 and I think i am one of the youngest people out there that realizes the true tragedy and doesn't joke about it. Every time I go on this web page it brings tears to my eyes. Ever since I've known about it I always wanted to grow up to be someone to research the ship and go to the atlantic ocean to see the ship. I think that would be the greatest thing in the world to me. I always wonder what would of happened if so many things could have been different. I guess i should stop because i am about to have tears in my eyes again. Well thank you very much for taking the time to read this. -Paula-
