| Worksop Today | TITANIC SURVIVOR BELIEVED TO BE BURIED IN CRESWELL CHURCHYARD AN AFTERNOON surfing on the internet led a Creswell woman to the discovery that a Titanic survivor, who died in the First World War, is believed to be buried in the village. Rita Williams, 63, of Wood Avenue, spotted the biography of Reginald Hardwick while surfing for stories about her village."I think this discovery is fantastic. It's really exciting, I have only had my computer a year. When I came across a Titanic survivor in Creswell, I passed it to my friends straight away," said Rita.Reginald is believed to have been working as a kitchen porter on board the ill-fated voyage of 1912 when the famous ship hit an iceberg.But he managed to escape on lifeboat 11. He was then taken on board the rescue ship Carpathia with other survivors which docked in New York.... |
