Engineers of the Carpathia honoured
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool has made various presentations to the engineers and electricians of the Carpathia who gave service on the night of the Titanic disaster.
Mr A. Johnstone, Chief Engineer, received a substantial cheque and a silver tea and coffee service and a punch-bowl. The other engineers received gold watches with suitable inscriptions and monograms.
A cheque for 48 pounds was also presented to the Sailors and Firemen’s Union to be divided among the 48 greasers, firemen and trimmers, if the men could be found, failing which the money will be devoted to the union’s sick fund.
