TO DEDICATE NEW CAMPANILE
New York Times
---
VENICE, March 27---J. Pierpont Morgan has written a cordial letter to
the committee, announcing that he will be in Venice on April 23 for the
inauguration of the biennial International Art Exhibition, April 25, and
dedicate the new Campanile of St. Mark's.
The municipality has issued an invitation to Italy and the world to
attend the ceremonies.
The invitation, which includes an engraving by Joseph Pennell, the
American artist, is considered a masterpiece, representing the homage of
American art to Venetian glories. It shows the piazza of St. Mark's,
seen from the water, with new and original effects.
