Mrs. A. H. Rice's Funeral Aug. 11

Mr. and Mrs. George D. Widener have returned here from Newport to prepare for the opening of the home of Dr. Alexander Hamilton Rice before his arrival on the Europa Aug. 9 with the body of wife, Mrs. Eleanor Elkins Rice, mother of Mr. Widener, who died recently in Paris. The funeral will take place at noon Aug. 11 in St. James's Protestant Episcopal Church, Madison Avenue and Seventy-first Street. Burial will take place in the family vault at Elkins Park, Pa..

[Note: On 9 August 1937, The New York Times, in an article entitled “Ocean Travelers,” reported: “The list of the North German Lloyd liner Europa, due today from the Channel ports, includes Joseph E. Widener, Mrs. P. A. B. Widener, Dr. Alexander Hamilton Rice” and others unrelated to the Widener/Rice family.]
