Mahogany Breakfront Brings $585 in $51,640 Auction

A Regency mahogany and grillwork breakfront cabinet with Roman portrait medallions, circa 1820, was sold to a private collector for $585 yesterday at the final session of the sale of art property of the late Margaretta C. Spedden and other collectors.

Receipts at this session, which was held in the Parke-Bernet Galleries, 980 Madison Avenue, were $23,507. The total obtained from three sessions was $51,640.

A sixteenth century painting of the Madonna and Child with St. John and Angels by the Italian artist Puligo was purchased by the Darsa Company for $475.  Two George III mahogany china cabinets of English eighteenth century design went to Arthur Ackerman & Son for $800.
