Feb. 26---Capt. A. H. Rostron, who drove the Carpathia at full steam through a sea of broken ice to rescue the survivors of the shipwrecked Titanic, will come to Washington on Friday to receive a gold medal of honor voted him with the thanks of Congress. Under the escort of Senator William Alden Smith of Michigan, who conducted the investigation into the circumstances of the wreck, Capt Rostron has already availed himself of the privilege that goes with the thanks of Congress to visit the floor of both houses while they were in session.
The medal will be presented to Capt. Rostron by President Taft in the White House at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. All members of the Cabinet will attend, as will Senator Smith and other prominent legislators. Mrs. Rostron will also be present.
