1919 Madame Tussaud & Sons Catalogue entry 27.

Commander Edward J. Smith, R.N.R., born 1853. Commander Smith was Captain of the White Star liner ''Titanic'' which went down in the Atlantic on 14 April, 1912, during her maiden voyage to America. In this terrible disaster, which was the result of collision with an iceberg, 1,503 lives were lost, including those of her heroic Captain and Colonel Astor.

[It is believed that his statue was destroyed by fire during the First World War.]
