Dr. Washington Dodge, who attempted suicide Saturday by shooting, is in a critical condition at the St. Francis hospital with little hope of recovery, according to Dr. John Gallwey, who is attending him.
Since his attempt Dr. Dodge has never referred to the matter. According to the police, friends of Dodge said that they expected that he would try to do away with himself, as he had been very ill and despondent.
"I have been acquainted with Dr. Dodge," said Gallwey, "for over forty years. In that period his honesty has never been doubted. The recent lawsuit with the Poulsen Wireless Company preyed upon his mind, and he became obsessed with the idea that he could not live in the face of the charges made against him.
