Failure to receive word from either Washington A. Roebling II or Stephen W. Blackwell, following the arrival of the Carpathia with the Titanic’s survivors in New York tonight seems to confirm what has been generally believed from the first, that these two young Trentonians went down with the giant liner – down with hundreds of other fearless men who observed the "rule of the sea" and stood by awaiting death while the women and children were saved. Relatives and friends of the young men have been hoping against hope that they were included among the unnamed survivors aboard the Carpathia , or that they might have been rescued by some other vessel. But it now seems certain that they were lost in the awful disaster.
