Miss Hyman, Who Came to Visit Her Brother, Had Suicidal Mania

---

Closely guarded to prevent her carrying out her suicidal mania, Miss Jessie Hyman, a well-dressed woman about 28 yours old; was deported yesterday on the White Star liner Adriatic. The young woman was carried on board late on Tuesday night by a half dozen stewards. She was put in a room and will be guarded all the way across the Atlantic.

Miss Hyman came to this country on May 31 on the Oceanic. She went to visit a brother at 213 Christopher Street, Brooklyn, where she soon became insane and tried to take her life. She was removed to Dr. Curtis's sanitarium, Flushing, L. I., and the immigration officials, becoming aware of her condition, decided that she must be deported.

When the woman was carried on the Adriatic Dr. O'Laughlin, [sic; should be "O'Loughlin"] ship's surgeon, and Capt. Smith were told that she would have to be watched. They promised to see that she was properly guarded and that she received the best of care.

Late on Tuesday night Miss Hyman became violent, and the attendants restrained her only after a hard struggle.
