STRAUS---The Directors of the Sanitarium for Hebrew Children tender their heartfelt sympathy to the family of Isidor and Ida Straus, called by Him who holds the mighty ocean in the hollow of His hand.
Isidor Straus was distinguished for his high-minded benevolence, far his noble charity that recognized no distinction in race or creed, for his broad sympathies for the sufferings of humanity that he sought to relieve.
As President of the Educational Alliance, he strove to effect the amelioration of thee struggling immigrant and to stimulate him in his advancement toward Americanism, and to implant in the breasts of the ignorant oppressed the hope for the better things he helped to realize.
To the Montefiore Home for Chronic Invalids he gave his time, his tender solicitude and his generous contributions, and his philanthropic efforts for many other associations to alleviate human woe and to raise the lowly by constant care of their material and spiritual needs will cause his memory to be cherished.
The Directors of the Sanitarium for Hebrew Children extend their deep and reverent sympathy to the family of the late Isidor and Ida Straus in the bereavement they have sustained and trust that they may find consolation fn the record of deeds and a story that will never fade from the memory of man.
The heroism of Isidor and Ida Straus in the terrible and overwhelming tragedy of the sea sheds a radiance upon mourning humanity.
