White Star Line Makes Gifts---Cunard to Claim No Damages
---
By Marconi Transatlantic Wireless Telegraph to The New York Times
---
LONDON, June 10---The White Star Line has announced that the Cunard Company has acceded to its request to be permitted to make the following presentations in recognition of the Cunarder Carpathia's rescue work after the wreck of the Titanic: To Capt. Rostron, $500; to Surgeon McGee, Purser Brown, and Chief Steward Hughes, $250 each; to every other member of the crew, a month's pay.

A further offer by the White Star Line to reimburse the Cunard Line for the outlay involved in the Carpathia putting back to New York with the survivors is not accepted. It is intimated that the Cunard Line considers it a privilege that the Carpathia and her crew were the means of picking up the Titanic survivors, and it is not the intention of the company to make any claim in respect to salvage or expenses.
