The Times

Monday 20 May 1912

It has been decided to erect a memorial fountain at Godalming in memory of Mr Jack Phillips, the senior wireless operator on board the Titanic, who was a native of the town. The Mayor (Alderman E Bridger) has received letters from all parts of England, America, and Canada inquiring for particulars of any memorial scheme. So far about £30 has been subscribed. Mr Harold Bride, the Titanic’s second wireless operator, arrived at Liverpool on Saturday in the Baltic.
