Mr. And Mrs. Millet at Villa Aurelia, Which is Being Modernized

ROME, April 6---[Three paragraphs which are irrelevant for present purposes have been omitted.]

Mrs. Frank Millet is now in Rome with her husbanad, [sic] the new President of the Consolidated American Academy. They are at the Villa Aurelia, the seat of the academy, of which Mr. Millet says: "Rome is the pearl of the world, and the Villa Aurelia is the pearl of Rome."

So far there is little at the villa but the beautiful rooms, the gorgeous view, the pure air, and the garden of surpassing loveliness. There is a sad lack of home comforts, which, however, are in process of being created. An elevator is to be put in, as, although there is a pretty winding staircase, it has missed its mission and does not lead to anywhere. Mrs. Millet’s visit is to be very short. She will return to America with her husband, sailing for America on April 10. On the same ship will sail Major Butt, who has already left Rome.

[Another irrelevant paragraph has been omitted.]

Mr. and Mrs. John Jacob Astor have arrived from Naples. They will stay until after Easter, and then go north, eventually to arrive at Paris.
