The Harrises

New York Times

Numerous and anxious were the inquiries (at the White Star Line office) for Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Harris.

Mr. Harris is one of the city's best known theatrical managers. Scores of his friends, both in the theatrical and the business worlds, called in person or by telephone to learn if there was any news of Mr. Harris or his wife. Mrs. Harris is saved but the absence of of any mention of Mr. Harris's name would seem to indicate that he is among the lost.

A story was circulated yesterday that Mr. Harris had been picked up by a steamer other than the Carpathia and that he had wirelessed his office in New York that he was safe. Investigation showed that there was no ground whatever in printing such a story.
