Built in Harland & Wolff at the same time as Titanic to serve as a tender to ferry first class passengers to the great liner, she at last provides Belfast with a tangible link with its most celebrated export.Salvaging the vessel from the scrapyard has been a major achievement, but greater challenges lie ahead. If Nomadic is to be transformed from a rusting hulk into an international tourist attraction, she will need to be completely renovated.While the Department for Social Development has acquired the vessel, and Belfast City Council has pledged £100,000 to the restoration fund, a determined effort will be required to raise funds to turn the vision into reality.... |
