Set against the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic, Cameron’s epic romance launched the careers of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, broke boxoffice records and won 11 Academy Awards in 1998. The digital remastering from Super 35 to IMAX 3D – supervised by Cameron himself, results in a larger aspect ratio than the original, and is therefore best enjoyed on the biggest screen in Britain. I didn’t see it at the IMAX, and consequently I didn’t feel that the film gained anything from being remastered for 3D.
