INTERVIEW WITH TITANIC SURVIVOR BRINGS TELEGRAM FROM NAMESAKE IN PROVIDENCE
NEW YORK,April 21 - Through the publication of an interview with him to a Providence, R.I. paper, Thomas Whiteley, one of the survivors of the Titanic's crew, who is now in St. Vincent's Hospital, suffering from frozen and lacerated feet, was placed in touch today with a relative from whom he counts upon aid in his present destitute condition.
Whiteley received a telegram from Providence today asking him if he was the Thomas Whiteley of London who had an uncle in this country by the same name. It was signed "Thomas Whiteley". The patient then recalled that he had an uncle by that name who came to America many years ago and immediately wired back, "Yes, come at once."
