Mr Charles R'ad. Thomas
Mr Charles P. Thomas from Lebanon boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg as a third class passenger (ticket number 2621, £6 8s 9d). He was accompanied by his sister Thamine and her son Assad.
Assad and his mother became separated during the sinking and Charles carried the baby to a lifeboat (16). He begged for the child to be rescued and a woman, thought to have been Winnie Troutt, took it upon herself to take the child into the lifeboat.
Charles Thomas was lost in the sinking. His body, if recovered, was never identified.
Notes
Some lists give the lifeboat as "D" but if Winnie Troutt was the rescuer
it has to be #16.
