Mrs Elin Gerda Lindell (née Persson)
Mrs Edvard Bengtsson Lindell (Elin Gerda), 30, was born 25 August 1881 the daughter of Nils and Johanna Persson of No 1, Gantorfta Kvistorfa, Skåne, Sweden.
Elin was married to Edvard Lindell and lived at Pålstorp No 5, Skogsgatan 7, Helsingborg, Skåne, Sweden. They were emigrating to the USA and were destined for the home of A. Petterson, 10 Smith St. Hardford, Connecticut. It is possible that they were planning to settle in the same town.
They boarded the Titanic at Southampton as third class passengers.
Despite briefly reaching Collapsible A Elin died. Edvard held her wedding ring in his hand when she drowned, the ring came to be on the bottom of collapsible A that was not taken up by Carpathia. It was found by crew from the Oceanic 13 May 1912. In a long exchange of letters with ministry for foreign affairs, Swedish consulate and White Star Line it's identity was verified. First White Star said it should go to Gerda but finally realized it had to go to the nearest relative, her father. He, Nils Persson in Gantorfta finally got the ring but was requested to show proof of his right to it. Gerda's body was never found.
The Mansion House Fund paid 875.52 Kr (£48) to the parents. 1366.50 Kr (£75) damage claims paid to parents 29 May 1914.
