Mr Ernest Edward Archer was born in Whitenap, Romsey in 1876, the son of Richard Archer and Ann (née Townsend). He married Elizabeth Mary Spencer in about 1896 and they had two sons and four daughters.
When he signed-on to the Titanic in Southampton on 6 April 1912, he gave his address as 59 Portchester Road, (Woolston, Southampton).He had transferred from the the Oceanic. As an able seaman he received monthly wages of £5
Mr Archer was rescued in lifeboat 16. He subsequently testified at the British and American inquiries into the disaster.
He died on 17 October 1917 of Tuberculosis, aged 41. He is buried at St Mary Extra Cemetery, Sholing, Southampton.
