Mr James Veal
Mr James Veal, 41, was born in Constantine, Cornwall in November 1871, the son of Mr Thomas Veal (Labourer) and Mrs Selina Veal. He was brother to William John, Thomas, Edwin, Benjamin Nicholas, Selina and Hugh. His occupation was that of granite carver.
Veal had emigrated to Barre, Vermont around 1900, in the 1900 Vermont Census he is listed as "Veale."
He had returned to Cornwall to visit relatives. His return to the USA was on the Titanic as a second class passnger (ticket number 28221, £13), he boarded at Southampton. It is likely he was known by James Drew also of Constantine.
James Veal was lost in the sinking, his body, if recovered, was never identified.
He is remembered on a family gravestone in the churchyard at Constantine, Cornwall.
