Mr Thomas Hart

Thomas Hart, 49, of 51 College Road, Southampton, had been placed onboard as a Fireman. He had previously drunk heavily and had absent-mindedly dozed off. When he awoke, his discharge book was gone.

On April 6th, a man presented a 'CERTIFICATE OF CONTINUOUS DISCHARGE' book bearing the name THOMAS HART in gold leaf. This man was placed in an 8 to 12 watch on the 14th and was lost.

Mr Hart's mother was notified by the White Star that her son was dead. On May 8th, her son turned up very much alive. Hart never found out who boarded and died with the Titanic, and the man's body, if recovered, was never identified.
