William Bessant was residing at 36 Henry Road, FREEMANTLE, Southampton at the time of the 1911 census. He was recorded as being a labourer. He was arried to Emily Ellen for 17 years. They had five children

Charles william aged 14 born in Freemantle and an errand boy
Gladys Lillian May aged 10 and at school
Florence Ellen Maud aged 5
Standley Lenard aged 3
Albert Edward aged 8 months

all born in Freemantle. Both Emily and William are recorded as being born in Totton Hants.
