Even J. J. Astor is Not a Power in
Financial World
From Our Own Correspondent.
New York, April 16.---The stock exchange is not at all likely to suffer serious disturbance in consequence of the White Star disaster. Had a large number of very prominent and active financiers been on board, the market might have been manifested a panicky feeling.
John Jacob Astor is on the board of several railroads and financial institutions, but the great bulk of his fortune is in real estate. He has never been looked upon, however, as an important factor in the stock market.
