‘NAUGHTY MARIETTA’ HELPS THEM FORGET
Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. Taylor, of London, two of the survivors of the Titanic disaster, arrived here yesterday for a few days’ rest after their perilous adventures when the biggest ship in the world went down off the New Foundland banks and after which they suffered from the perils of the sea for hours in a small boat, until they were picked up at daybreak by the Cunard steamer Carpathia.
Mr. Taylor, who is one of the principal stock owners in the Monoservice Company, manufacturers of paper drinking cups, was on his way here to arrange for a development of the company’s business in America.
After spending some time in New York city Mr. and Mrs. Taylor reached this city yesterday and will be the guests of City Clerk and Mrs. Edward R. Donnelly at their residence in Chelsea. Mr. Taylor is a cousin of Mr. Donnelly and is one of the wealthiest manufacturers in the South of England.
Last night Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were the guests of Major and Mrs. James H. Hayes, Jr., at a box party at the Apollo Theatre, where “Naughty Marietta.” Oscar Hammerstein’s famous opera was presented by an excellent company and before a crowded house.
Major and Mrs. Hayes’ party included Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, William A. Humes and Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Donnelly.
