Great sympathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. J. Benham and family, of Wokingham, in the loss of their son, who was a second-class steward on the ill-fated Titanic. His many friends in the town held him in high respect.

Born in the year 1883 in Peach-street, Wokingham, ho was educated at the Palmer Schools (where be gained the Bishop's prize), was a member of the All Saints' Choir and the Wokingharn Boys' Brigade, and was a keen follower of all manly sports.

He was formerly in the service of Lord Avergovene and joined the P. and O. liner Britannia as steward at the age of 21. He also sailed on the Peninsula, St. Louis, Thames and St. Paul, and had travelled round the world.

While on the St. Louis at New York two years ago he had the misfortune to break his leg. Thrown out of employment by the coal strike, it was with reluctance that he joined the Titanic.

On Sunday, at Saints' Church, Wokingham, the Rev. T. S. Gibson made sympathetic reference to the bereavement sustained by Mr. and Mrs. Benham.
